A good number of the world’s most amazing engineering wonders are made of marble – natural stone known for its delicate nature and visual appeal. From Taj Mahal to Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque, here is a glance at some of the most heavenly marble structures all throughout the world.

Taj Mahal (Agra, India)
Designed and Constructed in the Mughal Era (between 1631-1648), Taj Mahal is a unique composition of love with architectural elegance, making it one of one of the seven wonders of the world. The undercurrent story of love between Shah Jahan and Mumtaj has given birth to the grandest mausoleum that the world has never witnessed before.





2. Lincoln Memorial (Washington DC, US)

Constructed in the memory of Abraham Lincoln, the sixteenth president of the U.S., the structure is planned like a Greek sanctuary and houses a 19-foot (5.8 meters) tall Lincoln Sculpture etched in marble. The marble used for the construction had been sourced from various states. While the outside of the structure is made of white Colorado marble, the sculpture is cut of white Georgia marble. The roof is made of Alabama marble, the floor of Tennessee marble and the inside dividers are made of Indiana limestone.







3. Basilica of Santa Croce (Florence, Italy)

A fourteenth-century Franciscan church, restings at Italy’s most noteworthy and stunning spots which include famous statues including stone worker Michelangelo, astronomer Galileo Galilei and theorist Niccolò Machiavelli. A champion component of the basilica is its neo-Gothic exterior, which is made of marble of different tones.





4. Washington Monument (Washington DC, US)

One of the world’s tallest monoliths and stone designs, the construction was built in memory of George Washington, one of the founding fathers and a U.S. president. The landmark, which was made between 1848 and 1884, consists of marble, stone and bluestone gneiss. Its top, the pyramidion, is a marble capstone fitted with an aluminum tip. Guests can enter through the obelisk and find beautiful spectacles around the landmark from its observation deck.





5. Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque (Abu Dhabi, UAE)

Considered as a part of the one of the most beautiful and biggest of the mosques on the planet, the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque is named after the country’s first president – Sheik Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The pleasant white dividers of the mosque were worked from marble brought from Macedonia, and the multifaceted and intricate blossoms and valuable stones decorate the dividers and the segments. Worked somewhere between 1996 and 2007, the mosque contains 82 white marble arches of differing sizes. The primary patio was constructed utilizing 30 million tiny bits and pieces of marble.
